San Diego Omnium Road Course has Changed to the Boulevard Course
4/28/06 -The San Diego Omnium Road course will use the "Boulevard" course, but will stage at the Golden Acorn Casino. The race will be named the Golden Acorn Road Race. Details concerning the other races in the omnium will not change. Please check back next week for a revised race flyer.

Chris Horner Wins Stage 2 in the Tour de Romandie and is the Lead
4/27/06 - American Chris Horner (Davitamon-Lotto) attacked with perfect timing to win the second stage of the Tour de Romandie on Thursday and take the race leader's yellow jersey from prologue winner Paolo Savoldelli (Discovery Channel). Horner began racing while living in San Diego and riding for Swamis in the early 90's. I remember when he beat all of the Chevrolet / LA Sheriff pros in a early season San Diego race and everyone was wondering who the heck he was. Conquer the Canyons Stage Race - By Dan Vinson
4/25/06 - The first annual Conquer the Canyons Stage Race consisted of three stages including: 1) a short, mostly uphill time trial, 2) a fairly flat circuit race, and 3) a challenging road race. The two day, three stage event was held in beautiful Malibu, Westlake Village, and Agoura Hills. more >

Landis Claims Title at 2006 Tour de Georgia, Haedo Wins Final Stage
ALPHARETTA, Ga. (April 23, 2006) –  The day belonged to G.C. (general classification) leader Floyd Landis (USA) of Phonak Hearing Systems, who maintained his four-second advantage over second place finisher and fellow American champion Tom Danielson of Discovery Channel Pro Cycling team, winning the 2006 Ford Tour de Georgia. Third place went to Danielson's teammate Yaroslav Popovych (Ukraine).  Danielson won last year's event by four seconds over Levi Leipheimer (USA) of Gerolsteiner, and Landis finished just nine seconds back. more >

Danielson Beats Landis on Brasstown Bald, but Landis Holds Lead
BRASSTOWN BALD MOUNTAIN, Ga. (April 22, 2006) –  Like a championship boxing match, Tom Danielson (USA) of Discovery Channel exchanged attacks with fellow American Floyd Landis, but on the steep pitches of Brasstown Bald Mountain, and Danielson won Stage Five of the 2006 Ford Tour de Georgia.  Danielson won this same stage last year, but with both cyclists receiving the same time, 4:04:56, Landis holds on to a slim four-second advantage over Danielson for the lead in the General Classification. more >

Fast Freddie Rodriguez Wins Stage 4 of Ford TDG, Landis Keeps Lead
DAHLONEGA, Ga. (April 21, 2006) –  Sprinter Fred Rodriguez (USA) of Davitamon-Lotto out-sprinted a field of 53 riders to strike it rich for his second mountain stage victory in Georgia in four years, today winning Stage Four in Dahlonega, site of the first gold rush in America.  Italian Matteo Tosatto of Quick Step-Innergetic finished second in the "Gold City", followed by third place Yaroslav Popovych (Ukraine) of Discovery Channel.  more >

Landis Wears Yellow After Winning Time Trial at Ford TDG
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 20, 2006) –  American Floyd Landis of Phonak Hearing Systems repeated as the winner of the Individual Time Trial at the Ford Tour de Georgia, which he won in 2005.  He was followed by Americans Tom Danielson (Discovery Channel) and David Zabriskie (Team CSC) in second and third position, respectively, with Danielson, a close four seconds behind and Zabriskie 24 seconds back. more >

Discovery Channel's Popovych Gets Stage Two Win and Lead at TDG
ROME, Ga. (April 19, 2006) –  With 100 yards to go, Ukranian Yaroslav Popovych of the Discovery Channel Pro Cycling team broke away for a Stage Two victory at the Ford Tour de Georgia.   Juan Jose Haedo (Argentina) of the Toyota-United Pro Cycling team finished second and American Fred Rodriguez of Davitamon-Lotto finished third. more >

Lars Michaelson (CSC) Wins Stage One of the Ford Tour de Georgia
MACON, Ga. (
4/18/06) – Lars Michaelson (Poland) of Team CSC, the No. 1-ranked ProTour team this spring, captured the Ford Leader Jersey in a sprint in downtown Macon for Stage One of the 2006 Ford Tour de Georgia.  American Fred Rodriguez of the Belgian team Davitamon-Lotto and Australian Caleb Manion of the domestic Jelly Belly Cycling team finished second and third, respectively. more >
