2/12/11 - The SC Velo-Empower Coaching Women's Team is coming into 2011 with the same excitement and dedication as 2010! The 2010 season ended with great success seeing 23 wins, 28 podium finishes, 1 State Champion, 1 National Champion and 1 World Record Title (which team member Dotsie Bausch holds in the 3K Team Pursuit).
The vision of the team remains intact and the 2011 additions to the team support that vision. “We plan to cultivate elite female athletes so that they may have the opportunity and knowledge to pursue their cycling dreams." The team will focus more on mentoring female cyclists that are starting into racing and intends to participate in more NRC races this year. The next two years are focused on building sponsorship support and mentoring our girls to get them to some bigger races for experience and turn this into a big NRC team in 2013 and a UCI team in 2014!
Tammy Wildgoose is a young talented racer and we hope to guide her to a pro team if that is the path she chooses to take. Ruth Clemence, who is a 2x World Masters Champion is a veteran racer with lots of NRC experience; Ruth is ready to share her experience and knowledge with the younger girls on the team. Lisa Campbell is new to bike racing, just moving up the ranks to a Category 2 last year. Her excitement to learn and be part of a team is what makes her such a perfect fit.
The team is focused on a delivering successful year of racing and building the sport of women’s bike racing in a positive way.

In addition to helping build women’s cycling, the team is focusing on bringing awareness to Breakaway from Cancer®. “Amgen’s Breakaway from Cancer aims to raise awareness of the comprehensive array of resources available to cancer patients – from prevention to education and support to financial assistance and survivorship. In addition, Amgen and Breakaway from Cancer® help spread the word about working together to conquer cancer through partnerships with organizations including the Lance Armstrong Foundation, the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing and Stand Up To Cancer.”
