Friends, Dads, Mentors, Olympians, World and National Champions – Teammates
Amgen’s Breakaway From Cancer Elite Masters Cycling team has announced their roster for 2013. The BFC squad will continue to apply team efforts not only at competitive cycling events, but also toward promoting their sponsor brands and Amgen’s Breakaway From Cancer initiative. Additionally, BFC will continue its Masters Mentoring program, working closely with junior cyclists.
Amgen’s Breakaway From Cancer is a national initiative with a purpose to increase awareness of the important resources available to people affected by Cancer. Breakaway From Cancer incorporates partnership with four nonprofit organizations dedicated to empowering patients with education, available resources and hope, wherever they may be in the cancer care continuum.
With Breakaway From Cancer as event sponsor, the team is host organization behind the Dana Point Grand Prix, the number one single day USA Cycling NCC event. The team also hosts the Breakaway Challenge, riding each stage of the Amgen Tour Of California in advance of the race, raising awareness of the BFC initiative and joining the Breakaway Mile walk in the finish cities.
The BFC team’s Masters Mentoring program is designed to help identify and mentor motivated junior cyclists. The team will be working closely with the LUX U-18 Junior Development team toward building a foundation and values that help grow individual champions.
