Snow Summit Expands Summertime Operations for Hiking and Mountain Biking

Mountain bikers, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts rejoice! On Friday, June 13, Snow Summit will expand its operations for the 2014 summer season by opening for seven days a week. The mountain, which had previously only been open Fridays-Sundays, will maintain daily operations for the remainder of the summer.

“We’re excited to expand our hours for daily operations,” said Chris Riddle, Vice President of Marketing for Big Bear Mountain Resorts. “That’s four extra days of enjoying the mountain every week. Whether you’re grabbing your bike and heading to the Snow Summit Bike Park, or you’re throwing on your hiking boots, it’s going to be a great season at Snow Summit!”

Mountain bikers may notice a few changes to popular trails. The Snow Summit Trail Crew and Gravity Logic have re-routed the Westridge Trail. Crews are also working on additional improvements to the Skyline Trail. A brand new, top-to-bottom beginner trail is also slated to open later this summer. As always, mountain bikers can enjoy dozens of other downhill and cross-country trails, as well as new features in the Bike Park that will change throughout the season.

In addition to lift-serviced downhill mountain biking, Snow Summit and Forest Service trails offer plenty of trails for cross-country mountain biking. Cross-country and downhill mountain bike rentals for all skill levels are available in the base area.

Other summertime activities including hiking, sightseeing, and the Scenic Sky Chair. Guests can take in breathtaking views at 8,200 feet from the Scenic Sky Chair and spend the day enjoying the outdoors, wildlife, and fresh mountain air while hiking Snow Summit’s many trails. Or, visitors can take a break from the action and relax with games, delicious BBQ, and 360 degree alpine views at the View Haus restaurant located atop Snow Summit.
