Bike Profile: Pacific Premier Bank Cycling Team’s Java Siluro

With a full season of racing now in the rear-view mirror the Pacific Premier Bank Cycling Team (Esprit Velo), has put the full carbon JAVA SILURO to the test again and again notching multiple wins and dozens of podiums in the process.  As with all of JAVA’s machines the SILURO was drafted by their Italian design team with a particular emphasis on aggressiveness and, as one would expect with anything produced by Italians, it also gets high marks in the style department.  The SILURO’s combined frame/fork comes in at 1475g (54cm) which for those who are metrically challenged is about 3.25 pounds, making it light enough to potentially fail the UCI’s minimum weight should you pair it with the “wrong” components.

One of the first recognizable traits of the SILURO is it’s ability to handle corners brilliantly.  The over-sized head tube (which has been re-inforced through the integration of a 1 1/8 X 1 1/2″ headset) creates additional lateral stiffness resulting in highly responsive steering particularly at higher speeds and on tricky descents.  The frame’s advanced technology is present throughout using multiple shapes and sizes in both the front and rear triangles to increase stiffness while still maintaining a higher than average degree of comfort.

Fully ready for either mechanical or electronic shifting the SILURO boasts a removable panel on the underbelly allowing for internal battery mounting or, if using mechanical shifting, making use of it’s internal cable routing a snap.

The bike’s components, SRAM Force 22 complimented by ITM’s allutech bars, stem and seat post, pair well with the SILURO.  While SRAM’s contribution delivers shifting confidence and tremendous durability, ITM’s decades of experience building top tier bars and stems shines though each time you rise from the saddle to throw some big power into the pedals.

A race machine first, the JAVA SILURO is ready for just about anything you can throw at it and when pushed to the limit is most likely respond, “Is that all you got?”
