PeopleForBikes Coalition – Introducing the Bike Industry’s Unified Trade Association

PeopleForBikes Coalition

The Bicycle Product Suppliers Association (BPSA) and the PeopleForBikes Coalition recently voted to merge as the bike industry’s new unified trade association and will officially launch on July 1.

Tim Blumenthal who is the President for PeopleForBikes Coalition said the following regarding the merger:

Leading companies of all sizes across our industry recognized the potential of a united business voice to provide greater political influence and additional tangible benefits. They overwhelmingly supported the move to unite.

Our new organization will operate under the name PeopleForBikes Coalition. The BPSA board and key BPSA subcommittees will continue to meet and will benefit from PeopleForBikes staff support. Under the structure of our new coalition, Adam Micklin (Felt Bicycles) and Brian Benzer (SRAM) will serve as chair and vice chair of the BPSA Trade Association Committee.

As part of the merger, the PeopleForBikes Coalition board also welcomed three new members from the BPSA board: Micklin, Bernie Doering (Stages Cycling) and Matt Moore (Quality Bicycle Products). BPSA board members Larry Pizzi (Accell North America) and Bob Burns (Trek) will continue to hold positions on the PeopleForBikes Coalition board.

Membership benefits that have traditionally been provided independently are being combined and enhanced, which you can read about here. We are maintaining all of the programs and important roles of the BPSA — members will continue to receive their benefits as usual.

Our collective mission won’t change: we’re working to get more people riding bikes more often. As always, we’re linking this goal to strategies that boost the bike business.
