California Bicycle Racing (CBR) officially launched the 2026 CBR Criterium Series with the CBR #1 Dominguez Hills Criterium, marking the opening race of the Southern California road racing calendar. The early-season event delivered fast racing, deep fields, and an important fitness test for riders coming out of the off-season.
Early-Season Fitness Test for SoCal Racers
As the first criterium of the year, the Dominguez Hills circuit gave riders a chance to evaluate race fitness, sharpen pack skills, and gauge form against strong regional competition. High speeds and aggressive positioning set the tone for the 2026 California criterium season.
Pro 1–2 Race: Alex Akins Wins in Field Sprint
The Pro 1–2 field came down to a hard-fought sprint finish, where Alex Akins (SpeedBlock–Terún Cycling) unleashed the fastest sprint to take the win.
Justin Williams (L39ION of Los Angeles) claimed second place, with Scott Redding (Pedal Mafia) completing the podium in third.
Women’s Race: Holly Breck Claims Victory
In the Women’s race, Holly Breck (L39ION of Los Angeles) rode to victory for an impressive start to the season.
Morgan James (A Faster Me) finished second, while Chloe Patrick (Caldera Medical x Aurea Racing) secured third place on the podium.
