Don’t miss the fun as the SoCalCross brings you UCI internationally sanctioned elite Women Men and Junior Men main events this weekend bringing to LA some of the best cyclocross racers in the USA and beyond chasing points to be the best in the world!
This weekend will be a star-studded line of of racers coming from across the Nation featuring much of the Western US’ best! Confirming 4 of the top 5 in the Pro CX standings are racing including Cannondale Cyclocross World’s Tim Johnson and Ryan Trebon and the ever entertaining Raleigh Clement Cyclocross team with Ben Berden and Jamie Driscoll, also last year’s Cross After Dark race winner, Jamie Driscoll! The women will see many of the strong West Coast contenders including Marin/SPY rider Nicole Duke from Colorado and SoCal’s leading ladies including SDG/Felt rider Amanda Naumen!
On Saturday is also the UCI Cross After Dark Series Finale topped off with a $4,000 bonus cash purse split equally to the top 5 elite men and women overall in the Series!
Ben Berden (Raleigh-Clement) and Katerina Nash (Luna Pro Team) lead the national cyclocross series with 3 of the 4 series events completed. Both riders hold substantial leads over their closest rivals. Berden maintains a 21 point lead over second-placed Tim Johnson (Cannondale/CyclocrossWorld.com) with 71 points while Jeremy Powers (Rapha-Focus) sits in third with 70 points and Ryan Trebon (Cannondale/CyclocrossWorld.com) hold fourth with 65 points.
Katerina Nash, with 95 points holds a substantial lead over Elle Anderson (Specialized-Cal Giant) with 59 points. Nicole Duke (Marin-Spy Optic) sits in third with 58 points setting up a close battle for the second step on the podium. For Ben Berden the position is becoming familiar, the Belgian held a similar lead heading to the final race last season and took overall honors.
The Cross After Dark series includes Clif Bar CrossVegas held in Las Vegas in September, Gateway Cross Cup held in St. Louis in October, Lionhearts International Cross held in Cincinnati during November and CXLA Cross after Dark held in Los Angeles in late November.
CXLA weekend will include USA Cycling sanctioned racing as part of the SoCalCross Prestige Series (except UCI races) where racers earn points each week to determine who is the best in SoCal!
This weekend will have something for everyone including the Tour de Taste Saturday from 2pm-9pm featuring some of the best chef’s, restaurants, deserts and beverages LA has to offer! Benefiting the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition!
Live music by Jett Pink, DJ Pinke, Cross Karaoke, LA Hoopers and cultural performances will entertain throughout the weekend. There will be a CX short track to entertain kids and adults alike throughout the weekend!
