This Saturday, the one-and-a-half hour TV special on Red Bull Joyride, Canada’s premier mountain bike slopestyle competition, will air on NBC as part of the Red Bull Signature Series at 2:30pm ET/11:30am PT. Fusing elements of slopestyle, dirt jump, and North Shore-style mountain biking, Red Bull Joyride melts together Whistler’s natural terrain with gravity-fed, man-made features to create the most challenging slopestyle course on the FMB Tour. Red Bull Joyride marks its fifth anniversary at Crankworx Whistler in 2015.
The event takes place at the Whistler Mountain Bike Park, the premier lift accessed downhill bike park in the world with 4,900 vertical feet of descending trails that includes miles and miles of the very best natural terrain in North America, if not on the entire planet. At the base, where the village meets the mountain, is a course unrivaled in its scale and size, flanked by twenty-five thousand rabid fans who are here to witness the world’s top riders as they drop into the best slopestyle course on the planet.
This is why Red Bull Joyride is the final stop for the very first Triple Crown of Mountain Bike Slopestyle. This year the Crankworx World Tour has expanded to three stops starting in Rotorua, New Zealand then traveling to Les Deux Alpes, France before culminating in its Canadian home base of Whistler, B.C. The buzz is around Brett Rheeder and his quest to win the first ever Triple Crown, but no one is about to discount hometown hero and three-time winner, Brandon Semenuk. Will he upset his fellow Canadian from reaching his goal? Tune-in Saturday to find out.
