Doebel-Hickok Wins Hill Climb National Championship


This past weekend Southern California’s Krista Doebel-Hickok (Cylance Pro Cycling) won the USA Cycling Hill Climb National Championship, which was held in Colorado Springs, CO.

For Doebel-Hickok, the hill climb victory was a sweet reward after a season that sustained injuries, including a broken collarbone.  The race traveled up Pikes Peak where the start line was located at 9,390 feet. and was 12.42 miles with an average grade of 7%, and a gain in atltitude of 4,725 feet finishing at 14,115 feet elevation. Doebel-Hickok made the climb in 1h 25 minutes, and took the Pro Women’s title, becoming Cylance Pro Cycling’s first United States National Champion of the 2016 season.

The USA Cycling Hill Climb National Championship was held for the first time as a USAC National Championship race.
