Team Novo Nordisk has announced the addition of six promising young riders to its Development Squad for the 2025 season. With this move, the team completes a ten-rider roster focused on nurturing emerging talent and maintaining a youthful, dynamic pipeline. All six new recruits are under 20 years old, exemplifying the team’s commitment to fostering the next generation of athletes with Type 1 diabetes.
A Global Team with a Shared Dream
The 2025 Development Squad represents eight different countries, united by a shared goal: to turn professional and join the Team Novo Nordisk senior squad. The diverse roster includes returning and new talent, showcasing the team’s dedication to global inclusivity and talent development.
Meet the New Recruits
The latest additions to the team are:
- Juan Jose Lopez (Spain)
- Jeffe Beets (Belgium)
- Olly Clements (Australia)
- Richard Rundva (Estonia)
- Lucas Terrier (France)
- Luca Travaglia (Italy)
All six riders, aged 19, impressed during the team’s 2024 Talent ID camp held in Tuscany last July, earning their places on the Development Squad.
A Strategic Vision for Success
Having such a young team presents many unique opportunities for success,” began Development Team General Manager Daniel Holt. “The first goals of the year will be to test the resilience of the riders at our upcoming training camp, and how they adapt to the training load.”
“The second goal will be to see how the riders perform on the big stage against seasoned professionals at the Tour of Rhodes in early March. We were lucky to have such a strong showing at Talent ID Camp in 2024. All six of the new riders were at our 2024 camp, and four out of those six were at camp for the first time.
Returning Riders Bring Experience
The Development Squad will also benefit from the presence of four returning riders:
- Hjalte Knudsen (Denmark)
- Przemyslaw Kotulski (Poland)
- Louis-Marie Posnic (France)
- Evert Schots (Belgium)
These athletes aim to build on their prior experiences and take their performance to the next level. The team’s mixed racing program for 2025 will include opportunities to compete alongside the Team Novo Nordisk ProTeam in UCI events, further enhancing their development.
Preparing for High-Level Competition
Continuing to give riders a chance is another part of the pipeline,” continued Holt. “And our four returning riders were also discovered at previous camps. The Talent ID camps have been a huge success for our team with regards to discovering new talent.”
“The mixed racing program will be a great learning opportunity for the more experienced riders on the Devo team. Throwing the riders into the mix with bigger teams in the pro peloton, while seeing how the ProTeam riders react to the same challenges, should help to fast track the riders through the learning curve of racing at a high level.
