FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SoCalCycling.com Sponsors Cycling Team

3/6/07 - SoCalCycling.com is proud to announce our continued support of our Elite Team for the fourth year in a row. In addition, we are happy to have a great group of people represent SoCalCycling.com through the SoCalCycling.com Club, now in it’s fifth year. We are excited to partner with new co-sponsors LaRocque Better Roofs Incorporated and Matco Tools (Sean Liske) for 2007. Guy LaRocque and Sean Liske are both avid cyclists.

Team Director, Frank Sarate, has rebuilt the Elite Team to include eight Category 1/2 riders.  The team is comprised of seasoned riders including, Frank Sarate, Rob Kampilla, Juan Bravo, and former Mexican National Team Member, Raul Estrada Frias.  The team also includes four young riders under the age of 24, which will add youth and enthusiasm to the team, including Steven Ballenger, Pro mountain biker Mike Tettleton, Alan Wagenbach and returning member Jared Shimizu.  “I am very  excited about the composition of the team and excited to be working with this group of young riders to assist them in their development and cycling goals,” explained Frank Sarate.  The SoCalCycling.com Team will focus on competing in races in Southern California, as well as select NRC races.

We have teamed up with the following sponsors for 2007: SoCalCycling.com, Echelon Design web l graphic, LaRocque Better Roofs Incorporated, Matco Tools (Sean Liske), Cannondale Framesets, Canari Clothing, InCycle Bike Shops / Specialized Accessories, Williams Wheel Systems, SRAM Rival Groupsets, Race Face Components and Motor Tabs Fluid Replacement System.

“We are very grateful for the generous support of these sponsors. Their support allows our program and riders to accomplish our goals,” said Sarate.

The SoCalCycling.com Elite Team and Club are owned by Team Director, Frank Sarate and Christy Nicholson, who also own SoCalCycling.com and Echelon Design, a full service web and graphic design studio located in Claremont, CA.  “Sponsoring a cycling team is very important to both of us, as it allows us to give back to the sport and help these talented athletes get to the next level with our support and the support of our sponsors. Sponsoring a team also allows us to promote SoCalCycling.com to our direct market and promote the events and companies that participate with the site,” said SoCalCycling.com's Marketing Director, Christy Nicholson.

Both Frank and Christy have deep roots in the sport of cycling. Christy competed nationally and internationally as a professional cyclist for 13 years, retiring in 2000 and still enjoys riding for fun today. In addition, Christy was the founding partner of All-Star Racing, a Sports Marketing Team which managed several of the top Professional Women's Cycling Teams, including Olympians, National Champions and  World Champions. Christy was responsible for overseeing the team and staff  and presenting the team to major corporations as a unique marketing tool through sponsorship of the team.  She raised over  $1,000,000 in sponsorship funding and facilitated promotions with clients, including Chevrolet, Ralphs, Gillette, Reebok, Bausch and Lomb, PowerBar, Klein Bicycles and SC Johnson.

Frank was also a partner of All-Star Racing. Frank was the Team Director overseeing the athletes and staff.   Frank’s tactical knowledge and organizational skills led Team Klein to 2 stage wins, 11 podium appearances and finished Best North American Team at the HP International Stage Race.
