Video: The Breakaway from Cancer Masters Cycling Team and the Breakaway Challenge

“One person alone can’t beat cancer – it takes a team.”

The Breakaway from Cancer Masters Cycling Team once again rode each stage of the Amgen Tour of California before the pro peloton to promote awareness for the Breakaway from Cancer initiative. The eight stages covered over 700 miles and 45,000 feet of climbing. “This is the most important thing we do as a team”, say’s team member Malcolm Hill. “Winning masters races is great, but this is so much bigger and we are honored to be a part of something this meaningful. What started with a simple idea in 2006 to ride the stages evolved and is now embraced by everyone involved with the Amgen Tour of California…Amgen as the title sponsor, AEG the promoter, Breakaway From Cancer and the fans”.

Breakaway from Cancer represents a partnership between Amgen and four nonprofit organizations dedicated to empowering patients with education, resources and hope, wherever they may be in the cancer care continuum. The Breakaway from Cancer partners collectively offer people affected by cancer a broad range of support services complementing those provided by a patient’s team of healthcare professionals.
