Aventon Factory Team to Compete in Red Hook Crit Barcelona

The Aventon Factory team will be pulling out all the stops in their attempts to maintain their position at the top of the women’s Red Hook Series podium and add male and female individual victories in Barcelona to their impressive Palmares. Since the last race the team have been training hard under the supervision of Coach and Director Sean Burke (@crankcycling) as well as recruiting new talent. This paid off with 2 victories and 5 podium places at the recent Wolfpack Hustle race in Los Angeles.

For Red Hook Barcelona we are bringing a women’s that can more than defend their position at the top of the overall series. Gretchen Stumhofer  is coming straight off of racing the Womens’ USA Pro Challenge in Colorado and has had a great year having been crowned Collegiate national road and  crit champ. These heights of success are nothing new for Gretchen, a former Smokejumper. She’ll be joined by Esther Walker with whom Gretchen shares a  SIlver medal in the Collegiate national team time trial championship. Esther was recently crowned Madison National Champion in Los Angeles.  Sammi Runnels will be traveling from Austin and bringing her consistent performances in almost every cycling discipline with her. Sammi has made the break in her only two red Hook Crits, and  is improving each race.

Kym Perfetto, Stuntwoman, Actress, and former bike messenger, will be joining Sammi on the front of the race and looking to improve on her 14th place in RHC london. Trina Jacobson, the team’s most experienced racer and Road Captain is debuting in her first RHC. Her road pedigree includes various state championships and victories at the elite level and she’s ready to add to those results if the race comes down to a sprint.

The Aventon men are looking forward to showing the same dominance in Catalonia that they did in California where they won both road and fixed gear events. David Santos showed an impressive mastery of fixed gear racing, winning his first ever race without brakes by 26 seconds! Dave is no stranger to the podium, he’s reigning Southern California Road Race Champion and is a frequent flyer off the front of NRC and NCC races in the USA. Dave will be joined by elite cyclist Rahsaan Bahati. Rahsaan is a former track and criterium Pro National Champion and has raced and won all over the world. Bahati is also a principle in Bahati-WTR Cycling Club whose main focus is to create memorable experiences through the sport of cycling  and aims to be the largest club in the USA. In his first event as part of the Aventon Team, Bahati won the road race and placed 3rd in the fixed gear race in Los Angeles. He wants to move higher up the podium in Barcelona. These two new recruits will be joined by Brandon Jones: Former Track Cycling State Champion, and team gregario. Brandon has never finished higher than 40th in a Red Hook race, but this is due to the instrumental role he plays in the success of his team mates.

The team will be using the Aventon Diamond frames in the race along with components and wheels they have selected from the Aventon line.
