Former German Champion Hits the Ground Running
The Rally Cycling Team has announced the signing of a new director for the women’s team in two-time Olympian and eight-time Giro d’Italia Femminile stage winner, Ina Teutenberg. Her first race with the team was in Chico, CA last week where the women of Rally Cycling won three races in three days. Teutenberg, whose career spanned twelve years and included over 200 wins, will be directing alongside Zach Bell at key events this season.
As the women’s team continues to grow, bringing in someone to help foster this growth is an important piece. Ina’s extensive experience will be an enormous asset going forward for the program.
“Ina comes with a huge body of racing instinct which she is very good at articulating in a simple straightforward way,” said Bell. “She balances that enormous and prestigious race history with a personality that helps the young riders see that they don’t need to be defined by the sport and put so much pressure on themselves. But they can still hold themselves very accountable to their own performances in order to improve. Those things can be hard to separate as a young athlete without a role model like Ina helping you navigate that separation.”
Teutenberg is a multi-time winner of the San Dimas Stage Race, which is taking place this weekend.
