Team TIBCO – Silicon Valley Bank Continues Strong Results at BC Superweek
For the second year in a row, Kendall Ryan (USA) won the coveted prize: a victory at the Global Relay Gastown Grand Prix. Held in the middle of Vancouver’s historic Gastown neighborhood, this UCI-sanctioned criterium is a ferocious battle of speed, featuring a cobbled hairpin corner, over 30,000 spectators and the most prize money of any criterium in North America.
“I couldn’t be happier to win this race for the second year in a row,” said Ryan. “The other teams threw the kitchen sink at us at Gastown. There were attacks left and right, and my teammates did a really solid job covering moves and supporting me out there. This is such a great week of bike racing, and it’s not over yet!”
Ryan launched a long sprint around the final corner of the Gastown Grand Prix and held her lead all the way to the line. Her victory marks her fourth win this week during BC Superweek, and Team TIBCO – Silicon Valley Bank’s 6th podium of the week. Ryan scored a podium at the Giro di Burnaby last night, and at the New West Grand Prix on July 10, Shannon Malseed (AUS) sprinted from a breakaway to secure second for the team.
