Southern California Cycling Event Calendars Come to Light
2020 did not go quite as planned as we saw the emergence of a global pandemic which forced many of our favorite cycling events to be canceled and postponed. As we move forward in the new year, with the emergence of vaccines and new leadership there is hope that we can begin to get the pandemic under control and attending cycling and sporting events can become a possibility again with safety protocols put in place.
The 2021 Southern California Road Calendar has been added to SoCalCycling.com’s Event Calendars to offer a framework to plan from. The road racing season is tentatively set to start on April 11 at the Majestic Crit in Ontario, followed by the Rosena Ranch Circuit Race on April 25 and looks to run through the Fall months.
The Southridge Winter Series in Fontana is kicking off the 2021 Mountain Bike Calendar with downhill, cross country and enduro events.

An Effort to Reopen California Endurance Sports events in a safe manner within agreed upon COVID safety standards
In October, Southern California based endurance sports organizer Spectrum Sports Management announced the formation of the California Coalition of Endurance Sports. Including endurance sports organizations up and down the state, the Coalition has come together to work with state and county representatives in the creation of a roadmap to resume successful participant events, large and small, in a safe and responsible way for all concerned.
The coalition’s intention is to gather members from the endurance sports world so that they can speak with a united voice as one cohesive business unit, which is imperative to the health and economic vitality of the events, participants and communities.
THE COALITION’S GOALS:
- Reclassify Endurance Events as Participant Events (not Sports, which is a broad umbrella classification that captures professional as well as collegiate sports).
- Open up all Endurance/Participant Events in a safe manner within agreed upon COVID safety standards.
- Acceptance of COVID standards of safety and social distancing as created by the industry sector, and which is currently implemented in other states.
