Rally Cycling’s Robin Carpenter became the first American to win a stage of the AJ Bell Tour of Britain, leaving his breakaway companions behind to claim a solo victory on stage 2 from Sherford and Exeter.
Carpenter leads the race by 22 seconds over Team Jumbo-Visma’s Wout van Aert.
Carpenter, who was based in Southern California, has been known to show up for a local CBR race the Manhattan Beach Grand Prix to mix it up with SoCal racers and stay fit!
