Product Review: FSA Afterburner Stem

Full Speed Ahead’s Afterburner Stem for Gravel and Mountain Bikes

As gravel riding and mountain bike racing has become more popular, FSA has created the FSA Afterburner Stem which has a negative 12 degree rise that compensates for the extra height due to a suspension fork or rise in the head tube.

The FSA Afterburner Stem is a great choice when you want a more aggressive fit and lets you find the sweet spot in your position on the bike.

FSA has done a great job on the look of the Afterburner Stem with it’s bold styling and design that is bead blasted black and polished black anodized with 2-tone laser graphics. The stem looks great and is also very functional.

The stem has a large forged and machined front clamp. Despite the stem’s strong and beefy looks, it’s actually very light as the Afterburner stem is 3D forged and CNC machined from AL6061/T6.

The stem uses chromoly hardware for added durability and strength.

I appreciate the extra stiffness in the Full Speed Ahead Stem especially when used with a suspension fork.

I’m using the FSA Afterburner Stem on my gravel bike, but the FSA Afterburner Stem would also be a must have for a cross county hardtail mountain bike with front suspension.
