50th CicLAvia on Melrose, Launch Party,

6 CicLAvias and 2 CicLAminis

Bringing Los Angeles together with more open streets, more miles of smiles, and more active recreation spaces, CicLAvia announces its 2024 schedule of car-free open streets events, including two CicLAminis. In addition to the 4-7 miles of CicLAvia’s traditional open streets events, there will be two new 1-2 mile CicLAminis – compact, pedestrian-oriented neighborhood routes designed to inspire participants to slow down and enjoy the streets in a more leisurely fashion. Expect activities like self-guided walking tours, scavenger hunts, street games, local business engagements, and art and cultural activities for all ages at both CicLAvia and CicLAminis.

Mayor Karen Bass Applauds CicLAvia, LADOT, and LA Metro

“Congratulations to CicLAvia, LADOT and LA Metro for launching another joy-filled year, with more events, in more LA neighborhoods,” says Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, who has attended several events in past years. “CicLAvia events bring that joy safely to all parts of our city by showing us how safe, manageable and bright our streets can be without cars – for bicyclists, walkers, runners, skaters, scooters and strollers. CicLAvia is a wonderful way to celebrate our great city of Los Angeles while engaging in an activity that’s healthy for people and the planet. I am a big fan of CicLAvia and I can’t wait to join you!”

CicLAvia—Melrose, taking place on Sunday, February 25, is an opportunity to explore Melrose Avenue, between Fairfax and Vermont, free of cars. Show up anywhere along the route at any time and have fun! Hubs have restrooms, free water refilling stations, free basic bike repair, bike parking, and first aid. In addition, free pedicab rides are available at each information booth. CicLAvia—Melrose will have three hubs along the four miles and features many family-friendly activities. Both the Fairfax High Swap Meet on the west end of the route and Los Angeles City College Swap Meet on the east end will be open.

“We appreciate that Metro is again partnering with the City of LA and West Hollywood to provide funding for CicLAvia’s 2024 season,” says CicLAvia Executive Director Romel Pascual. “As a non-profit, this partnership allows us to continue to offer and expand our beloved open streets throughout the Los Angeles region. Our work at CicLAvia also relies on our coalition of supporters, which includes foundations, individual donors, community organizations, and companies who share the vision of safe, diverse, and inclusive open streets. We are excited to start our 2024 season with a new CicLAvia route on Melrose. The diversity of community and small businesses remind us of what makes CicLAvia special and impactful. We will see eight CicLAvia open streets events in 2024, and we are thrilled to celebrate LA alongside our dynamic communities.”
